Although the architectural language is early 18th century, this 20,000 square foot country house will perform to 21st century standards by combing environmentally sensitive new technologies, for example, heating fuelled by “woodchips” sourced from the estate’s woodland. Huttons Farm |
Located in and area of outstanding natural beauty this GQA project combined 19th Century timber barns with distinctly modern structures built of local materials with vernacular details in a non-traditional manner to create a new 22,000 square feet moated country house with swimming pool and Islamic art gallery. Mere Farm |
GQA designed a house to replace the existing 1960s building in a traditional classical manner complimenting the surrounding area. The proposed two storey ‘U’ shaped design encloses a ‘Cour d’honneur’. Sustainable construction using geo-thermal heat pumps, photovoltaic cells, woodchip burners and a ‘natural’ swimming pool was integral to the project. Click here to view additional photos >> |
